Jim’s weekend look made me want to ask him to build me a fire and cook me a steak – so approachable and comfortable looking, and yet, so chic. The goldenrod cords, cotton/wool blend black-rimmed sweater (without a layering tee, take note) and the accompanying suede chukkas. The ease does please the eye…

TIP: Don’t forget cords guys! They are supple, velvety and add some great texture to your winter ensembles. Stick with the smaller wale ones though – wide wale adds unnecessary girth and wears more quickly.

This last look is something Jim could wear on stage for a Georgia Overdrive gig, or wear to work – it’s what happens when you achieve a good blend of classic, well fitting and subdued pieces, and mix them with pieces that express your singular style. Here the dark wash denim (much more versatile than lighter washes) and the simple one-stop topper of a well-tailored, awesomely adorned embroidered snap shirt, are taken up a notch by pairing the ensemble with a brown leather shoe (versus a sneaker).
