The Munsters’ Theme by Los Straitjackets
The crazy Mexican-wrestling-mask-wearing instrumental band Los Straitjackets deliver the theme song for our favorite TV family who live at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, The Munsters.
Pumpkin Carving Party by The Evil Streaks
Boston band, The Evil Streaks live up to their name with their album Talk to the Dead, chock full of scary themed songs.
Death Ship by The Hoodoo Gurus
The Hoodoo Gurus always seem to be having a great time even when they’re singing songs about death. Gotta love these quirky Aussie rockers!
Halloween by The Misfits
So when you think horror punk, The Misfits are probably the first band that pops into your head. Here’s their homage to the scary day known as Halloween.
Partytime Zombie Version by 45Grave
This song was featured in the classic horror movie, Return of the Living Dead. Remember that one? It was the one with the punks partying in the graveyard and oh no, zombies!
The Ghost in You by The Psychedelic Furs
Smooth, dance-y and haunting, not a particularly spooky song, but cool nonetheless.
The Killing Moon by Echo and The Bunnymen
Eerie and gorgeous, even if we have no idea what a killing moon is (a blue moon? a blood moon?). Whatever it is though, it evokes mystery.
Red Right Hand by Nick Cave + The Bad Seeds
No one does spooky as well as Nick Cave does and this song has got to be one of the scariest. Enjoy this one with the lights on.
Pet Sematary by The Ramones
Here’s another song from a horror movie (maybe we need a list of best Halloween movies?) – the theme to Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. The Ramones sing about zombie animals and, you know, undead other things. Just keep in mind that they don’t wanna be buried in a pet sematary.
Surfin’ Dead by the Cramps
When it comes to The Cramps, they have a huge catalog of freaky, scary and fun songs perfect for any Halloween song list. This song answers the eternal question, can the dead surf? Why yes, yes they can!
Zombified by Southern Culture on the Skids
Title track off of Southern Culture on the Skids (SCOTS)’s album “Zombified” adds some swampy twang to this playlist.
The Witch by The Sonics
These influential garage rockers have been around since 1960, and they’re still at it with their latest release. This is the Sonics just last year! The Witch is definitely one of their classic hits.
Lucifer Sam by Pink Floyd
Another song from the wayback machine, here’s Pink Floyd’s trippy, freaky, satanic song, Lucifer Sam. This is early Pink Floyd, way before “The Wall”, when Syd Barrett was in the band.
